1260 oz-in of torque from a D645MW! This servo gearbox is to the D645MW as the Iron Man suit is to Tony Stark. The gearbox transforms this metal gear servo into a super-servo capable of out-performing nearly every off-the-shelf servo offered on the market today.  Patented

Mechanics: The Channel Mount Servo Gearbox framework is fully machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and hard anodized to resist scratches and wear. The 1/2" diameter solid stainless steel output shaft is supported by a pair of ABEC-5 double shielded ball bearings for smooth operation no matter the orientation of the load. The Channel Mount Servo Gearbox is able to integrate with the Actobotics building system but is not limited to robotic applications. The sleek framework would make this a great choice for an R/C boat, steering assembly or pan and tilt device.

Electronics: The servo installed into the gearbox gets modified and connected to an external potentiometer so that the amount of rotation is not limited by the servo but dependent on the relationship between the output shaft of the gearbox and the potentiometer connected to it. This patented setup allows the CM-D645MW-180 to rotate up to 180 degrees (see below for rotation options). An assembled servo gearbox will plug into a servo controller just like any other servo; no additional wiring will be necessary to put it to work!

In order to fit your application, all gearboxes are made to order. Use the guide below to make the appropriate selections for your CM-D645MW-180 Servo Gearbox:

⦁ Ratio:  The balance between torque and speed - The 7:1 ratio provides the highest torque and lowest speed while the 2:1 provides the highest speed and lowest torque.  Check out the chart under 'Specs' for details.

⦁ Rotation Programming:  This refers to how far the Servo Gearbox output shaft will rotate.  The stock programming will allow the output shaft to rotate 90 degrees with a 1000-2000μsec PWM signal range.  The max rotation programming will allow the output shaft to rotate 180 degrees provided the same 1000-2000μsec PWM signal range. Most servo controllers on the market are able to send this range however there are some transmitters that send a slightly lesser range which would limit the rotation achieved. If you're unsure what your servo controller is capable of sending, please check with the manufacturer.

*This programming can be done with a Hitec servo programmer that's compatible with the servo installed into the gearbox if you have a programmer available or wish to purchase one to tweak your gearbox.

⦁ Direction Programming:  This refers to which direction the Servo Gearbox output shaft will rotate when provided an increased PWM signal from the servo controller.  All servo gearboxes are bi-directional (they're able to rotate either way).  The default programming is counter clockwise which means the gearbox output shaft will rotate CCW when the PWM signal is increased and it will rotate CW when the signal is decreased.

*This programming can be done with a Hitec servo programmer that's compatible with the servo installed into the gearbox if you have a programmer available or wish to purchase one to tweak your gearbox.

⦁ Assembly: Servo Gearbox assembly can be tedious and does require soldering.  Modifying the D645MW servo is the most time consuming step in the assembly process.  The internal stop must be removed from the gear train inside of the servo, the stock potentiometer must be removed and the wires must then be connected to the external potentiometer.  If you are not comfortable assembling your servo gearbox, select 'Assembled' to have one of our technicians assemble it for you!
