The master module can be used for two purposes:
1. Since it has four Bricklet ports it is ideal for applications where many Bricklets sensors or actuators are used. These can be controlled directly via the USB interface of the master module, or on wifi using the appropriate extension.
These USB sensors, such as temperature or humidity sensors, or USB actuators, such as relays, can be combined according to your needs.
The master module can be used for communication purposes. When building a module stack, the lower module acts as the master of the stack and coordinates all communications between the stack cards and the control device. If there are other Master modules in the stack, they detect that they are not dominant over the lower one and only communicate with the Bricklets connected as slaves for the dominant module. This requires only USB connection, that of the dominant master module to connect a computer.
In addition to the USB interface, other types of interfaces (Wifi, ethernet, rs232, ...) are available. These must be enabled through additional modules.
The maximum stack consists of (low up): 1 power module, 1x master module, 8x arbitrary modules, 2 extension modules.
